Job Summary:

Day to Day operation and maintenance of instrumentation for isotopic and geochemical analyses. Oversee installation of new equipment and receive training on the instrumentation and train students and researchers to run samples on the equipment. Maintain supplies for various analysis. Perform independent scientific research, data collection and method development. Analyze samples and report and interpret data.

Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: 

Bachelor's in Geological Sciences (or closely related scientific or engineering field) and five years laboratory research experience or Master's degree in Geological Sciences (or closely related scientific or engineering field), with at least two years experience.

Should be well versed in software operation and minor programming.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Ph.D, / Ed.D. in Geological Sciences (or closely related scientific or engineering field)

All candidates should have experience in independent research, operating instruments, managing a lab, and working with students, and should be well versed in software operation and minor programming.

Familiarity with the major equipment in the lab would be a plus. The equipment currently in the lab are listed: a Thermo Delta V Plus IRMS with an EA and a TC/EA, a ThermoFisher iCAP pro ICP-OES, a Metrohm Enviro Trace IC, a Shimadzu 20A HPLC, a Perkin Elmer Clarus 500 GC, a Perkin Elmer Autosystem XL GC, an Eltra 2000 CS analyzer, and a ThermoFisher iCAP Qc ICP-MS. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are essential for capturing details of work performed and explaining tasks and analyses in a team environment. Organized and detail oriented with the ability to focus in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work on several tasks simultaneously. Ability to do independent research, train and mentor students, and contribute to papers and proposals.
