Job Summary:

Office of Admissions, Recruitment, & Outreach Programs

Position: Recruiter 

General Description: The Recruiter is responsible for recruitment, pre-admission advisement, 
prospective student communication, matriculation, retention of first-time, transfer, and returning students. 

Additionally, they will provide services and outreach programs to recruit and retain targeted student populations. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities: 
Recruit new and returning students by providing accurate and timely pre-admission advisement to prospective first-time students, transfer students, returning students, and other members of the public. 

Provide a knowledgeable and professional representation of the university with students' one-on-one advisement sessions and on and off-campus events. 

Work directly with high schools locally and across the nation, area colleges, technical centers, businesses, and other constituencies to develop relationships designed to recruit students. 

Plan and implement university recruitment activities, programs, and campaigns. 

Attend events and make presentations to communicate with prospective students to promote Langston University and its programs. 

Advise prospective students by providing individualized assistance with educational goal identification, program selection, assessment of skills, payment/financial aid planning, scholarship opportunities, and path degree completion. Correspond with students offering advice, resources, or referral to other campus resources. 

Through applying federal, state, university policies and professional judgment to determine student eligibility by evaluating required documents, including transcripts, standardized test scores, and other academic records. 

Advise the Director of the Office of Admissions, Recruitment, & Outreach Programs on significant matters and support other team members in their goals and operational purposes. 

Participate in staff development programs and campus functions. 

Other duties and tasks assigned.

Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

Qualifications: 
Bachelor's degree. 
Valid driver's license. 
Two or more years of related experience working in a fast-paced customer service environment. 
Proficient in using computers, the internet, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, and Access), Banner, and familiar with the professional use of social media. 
Previous experience in higher education is beneficial. 
Ability to work outside of traditional work hours, including but not limited to nights, weekends, and while away from the office. 
Experience taking the initiative and setting priorities as necessary to manage a heavy workload and meet strict deadlines. 
Able to adapt to change as needed. 

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
