Research and Instruction Librarian/Assistant Professor (if qualified)
This position provides reference services for the Langston University community, as well as members of the public. It likewise provides library instruction in the classroom and online while also helping plan and execute programs and create displays.
Reports to: Dean/Director, University Libraries Location: Langston campus Salary: $50,000 annually
• Provide reference assistance face-to-face, by phone, and online. • Participate in library instruction as assigned and in collection development activities. • Serve as the library liaison for assigned academic departments. • Help plan and execute programs and displays. • Manage government documents, attend related meetings. • Compile reports and statistics as needed and required. • Supervise and evaluate work-study students. • Work effectively with other Library faculty and staff. • Other duties as assigned. • Must be available to work select evenings and weekends.
• This position is primarily office-based with occasional travel for events, meetings, or training. • Office environment with moderate noise levels. Regular use of a computer, phone, and other office equipment, requiring prolonged periods of sitting and typing. Occasional lifting or carrying of materials (up to 25 pounds). • Successful candidate must provide documentation of identity and eligibility for employment, as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) of 1986.

Education & Experience
Position Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies or a related degree.• Library experience with an emphasis on public services.• Strong interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate with diverse members of the university community.• Demonstrated technical ability and an aptitude for continuous development in this area.• Availability to work select nights and weekends.
• ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies.• Experience in a higher education institution.
