Job Summary:


Fire Protection Publications is a mission-driven, values-based organization dedicated to the production of high-quality educational content for the international community of firefighters and first responders.

As Computer Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the digital presence of Fire Protection Publications (FPP) and the International Fire Service Training Association (IFSTA). You will create and maintain digital content on web platforms as well as the consistency of branding across all online channels. You will optimize website layout and navigation, and closely monitor FPP’s website and other digital platforms in order to continually improve our digital presence.

Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

This position will require the incumbent to have documented proof of full Covid-19 vaccination status or an approved accommodation through the OSU Office of Equal Opportunity upon hire.

Required Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED and six years related experience with requirement to receive bachelor's degree within six years of hire OR bachelor's degree and one year of related experience.

Skills, Proficiencies and Knowledge: 
-Have knowledge and experience with HTML, JavaScript, CSS.
-Working knowledge and demonstrated competency of PHP, or similar coding language.
-Hands-on experience using a Content Management System.
-Maintain a working integrated development environment.
-Debug and fix issues in a timely manner.
-Maintain a working knowledge of web browser technology, features, and functionality.
-Must be able to work effectively both as a team member and independently.
-Ability to track and meet deadlines.
-Ability to learn new skills.
-Attention to detail and quality.
-Ability to problem solve.

Demonstrated understanding and application of FPP’s organizational values: Service, Safety, Quality, Integrity, Excellence, Professionalism, Accuracy, Collaboration, Credibility, Innovativeness, Accountability.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, MIS, MRKT, Communications, English, Journalism or a related field. 

Advanced experience in website design and web development
Understanding of Web Accessibility best practices
Knowledge with XML, PHP, JSON, jQuery
Understanding of web servers and databases
Knowledge and experience in Search Engine Optimization.
Experience using version control such as Git or Bitbucket.
