The Oklahoma State University Library seeks applicants for the position of Science Literacy and Global Studies Librarian. This position is a member of the OSU Library faculty reporting to the Head of Library Teaching and Learning. This is a tenure-track position with anticipated initial appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. The Librarian will work to expand the library’s outreach to the OSU research community and increase awareness of services in the areas of science, information, and data literacy and explore ways for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals can be incorporated into those efforts. The position will create and implement sustainable programs and tools in order to meet the needs of researchers and students related to evidence synthesis methodologies and will serve in academic department liaison responsibilities as noted below. We are interested in a candidate’s curiosity and willingness to grow and develop as a professional, as well as their ability to help others grow and learn as part of a community. This position will be a vital part of a highly collaborative library team that seeks to learn together and support each other.


Responsibilities: Assist in the continued development and implementation of the information and data literacy curriculum of the library. Undertake academic department liaison responsibilities to Agriculture and Natural Sciences programs, School of Global Studies (including Study Abroad Office), and the Honors College. Assist students and faculty with evidence synthesis research. Support campus and library efforts to offer educational and research opportunities related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Partner with relevant individuals, units, and organizations to promote science and information literacy to the campus, Stillwater, and state communities, including, Science Café OSU, the Oklahoma Science and Engineering Fair, OSU Extension, and others as appropriate. Provide information literacy instruction first year students.


Required Qualifications:  Graduate degree in library/data science, STEM field(s), and/or education. Experience providing information/data literacy instruction. Demonstrated experience with STEM education. Previous work with the UNSDGs. Demonstrated ability to establish and coordinate collaborative projects across campus. Knowledge of current trends in evidence synthesis methodologies, including systematic reviews.


The salary is a minimum $55,000 annually for an 11-month appointment with a generous holiday schedule, health care plans, and retirement options.  As a new library faculty member, you will receive start-up funding for research and/or professional travel and have access to the Library’s grant writer and development team as well as a full communication team.
